Beauty Trove's Top 5 for July 2019!

Hey gorgeous!  I know this is late, summer has been passing me by this year.  But I have been trying on a ton of new makeup and wanted to let you all know what I loved in the month of July.  My top 5 are listed below.

1.  Violet Voss The Rainbow Palette ($30.00).  If summer could be compiled to a single palette, this would be it.  I love playing around with colorful eyeshadows especially during the summer.  The Rainbow palette by Violet Voss does not disappoint.  The color payoff is wonderful.  Each shadow is highly pigmented, goes on buttery smooth, and wears great throughout the day.  You can easily pair this palette with a more neutral one for transition shades and darker corner shades.  I especially love the blues and greens in this palette.  The navy color does have some fallout with it but I like I said the color payoff makes it totally worth it.  If you like the color scheme but don't think you will use such huge eyeshadow pans, Violet Voss has a mini palette with all the colors- Rainbow fun sized mini palette ($18.00).  This is a great palette to pick up during the Sephora summer VIB sale.  Use code SUMMERSAVE up to August 27th to save 20%.

2.  ColourPop's Jelly Much Shadow in Late Bloomer ($8.00)- This is fairly new to my collection and is the first jelly much shadow I have tried.  The consistency of the shadow is well, jelly-like.  The shadow feels very cool on the eyelid and applies fairly evenly.  This shade in particular is gorgeous.  It is a light purple with a lot of glitter.  It is such a fun and flirty shade and I am so happy I have this.  It come in handy during those days I am the busiest.  It is so easy to just smooth this on the eyelid, swipe on some mascara, and you are ready to go.  Right now ColourPop is having a sale, and Late Bloomer can be purchased for $6.00.

3.  ColourPop's The Headliner Palette ($40.00)-  If you want to add more glitter to your collection or are looking at trying some pressed glitters, look no further.  This is a great little palette that has a mix of stunning pressed glitters and neon matte shades.  Both pair perfectly together.  I love the pressed glitter formula.  It is so much easier to apply than loose glitter.  This would also go great with the VV Rainbow palette.   You can pick this up during ColourPop's sale for $20.00.

4.  E.l.f. Comsetics' Smudge Proof Mascara ($6.00) - I know that E.l.f. cosmetics is not traditionally known for their mascaras.  But this new formula is stellar.  I really love the bottom lash wand that coats all your lower lashes in this dark mascara.  In fact, this mascara is great just for your bottom lashes and is comparable to Clinique's mascara for the lower lashes. 

5.  Benefit Cosmetics' Roller Liner Liquid Eyeliner ($22.00)- Girl, if you are looking to make a statement, try the Roller liner out.  This pairs great with the VV eyeshadow palete and E.l.f. mascara.  This is one of my most darkest liquid liners.  I love how easy the felt tip applicator glides along the eyelid and how quick it dries.  I love creating cat eye liner looks with this.  The benefit roller liner is going to be a mainstay in my makeup collection. 

April 2017 Top 5 Favorites

Sorry I've been absent lately.  It has been a hectic time with some family health emergencies.  But I am happy to share the top 5 cosmetics I have been enjoying for the month of April.  If you want to know what I think have been great products this month, please keep reading!

1.  The Galaxy Chic Palette ($15.99).  So I confess that I have owned this palette for at least 5 months now but never really played around with it.  I know some beauty bloggers will have a monthly makeup drawer, which I think is a great idea to circulate some palettes that you haven't used in awhile.  Bottom line: I love this palette.  I feel that BHCosmetics is a brand that is certainly not talked about enough.  The packaging on the Galaxy Chic palette is okay.  It is a sturdy cardboard palette that does have a fairly decent mirror.  The palette comes with 18 beautiful baked eyeshadows.  I really like how the eyeshadows have a marbled look to them.  I will say that the palette is not a stand alone look and that you will need to borrow from other parts of your makeup collection for transition and brow bone shades.  But the eyeshadow colors are very pigmented and shimmery.  I especially like the Cosmic and Aphrodite shades for a fun purple and wine look.  I do have a tutorial on the Galaxy Chic palette to give you some ideas on how you can use this palette.  BHCosmetics usually has 20-25% off sales throughout the year so I would purchase this palette then.  Overall, I really enjoyed the Galaxy Chic palette.

2.  Bare It All 4-in-1 Skin-Perfecting Foundation ($39.00).  If you are wanting a full coverage foundation that doesn't dry out your skin, look no farther.  Pur Cosmetics' Bare It All 4-in-1 Skin-Perfecting Foundation is a creamy, full-coverage foundation.  It applies beautifully using the Real-Techniques miracle sponge of the EcoTools sponge, most likely it would work well with a Beauty Blender.  I was really impressed that just the smallest amount of this foundation covered up all redness and dark circles.  My skin looked absolutely flawless. The foundation has 1.5 ounces of product and comes in 10 colors.  I think as the popularity of this product grows that Pur will start to increase their color range.  I know this is somewhat pricey.  If you sign up for the Pur newsletter, they will let you know when they have different sales.  I picked up two in the shade Porcelain during their BOGO sale.

3.  Mary Kay Eye Color Palette in Sunlight ($24.00).  The Mary Kay Eye Color Palette in Sunlight is perfect for the spring and summer.  Just looking at the palette makes me happy.  The packaging is very compact and looks like a modern piece of art.  The Sunlight palette has 4 stunning bright shades that apply like butter.  You can get a number of fun looks with this palette.  My favorite way to wear this is by using the orange shade as the transition, the purple on my lid, the pink as my outer corner color, and the soft ivory color on my brow bone.  This is a limited edition palette so if you are considering getting this I would go and talk to your beauty consultant or purchase online.

4.  Versailles Lip Whip ($20.00).  Beauty Bakerie is a relatively new brand for me.  I've purchased three different lip whips from them but Versailles is my favorite.  I've paired this with the Mary Kay

Eye Palette and the Galaxy Chic Palette.  The lip whip is a moussey texture and dries down matte.  It is the perfect shade of cool mauve-pink.  Simply gorgeous!

5. Nyx Cosmetics Perfect Filter Shadow Palette in Rustic Antique ($20.00).  This Nyx palette in Rustic Antique is a warm toned eyeshadow lover's dream.  The palette comes with 10 sizeable, creamy, and highly pigmented shades in warm tones of brown, gold, pink and wine.  I bought this during the Ulta 20% off sale and am super glad I did.  The packaging is okay but the colors really put this palette as one of my top favorites.  I think this palette would be perfect for the Fall.  I am looking forward to using all the colors more often this year.

Beauty Trove's Top 5 December 2016 Picks!

It is hard to believe we are already in 2017!  After a contentious 2016, it is a welcome sight.  However, 2016 wasn't all bad.  We have some great December favorites to share with you.  Try them  out and you may want to add them to your makeup arsenal.

1.  Urban Decay's Full Spectrum Eye Palette ($35.00).  This limited edition palette is what unicorn

rainbow dreams are made of.  Full Spectrum has 21 iconic, creamy Urban Decay eyeshadows.  The eyeshadows are extremely pigmented and add a fun pop of color to your look.  Given that it is on sale, I may just pick up another palette so I never run out.

2.  Medusa's Makeup Enchanting Lipstick in Sugar Daddy ($12.00).  This all vegan company has some of the prettiest lipsticks
you will see this year.  My favorite is Sugar Daddy, a spectacular nude rose.

3.  Mary Kay's Brow Gel ($10.00).  This is my ride or die brow gel.  It is the best brow gel to tame unruly brows.  It also comes at a great price.


4.  PUR Cosmetics Big Look Lengthening Mascara ($21.00).  I love this mascara!  It works great with my long lashes.  Also, it nourishes my eyelashes with argan oil.  This is a great mascara that provides midsize
volume.

5.  Gigi Microwave Tweazeless Facial Wax ($4.88).  This is the perfect wax to get rid of peach fuzz on your face.  I suggest using it with facial strips to make wax removal easier.  This is the fastest way to remove unwanted facial hair.

Beauty Trove's Top 5 November Favorites

Better late than never!  Here are my top 5 favorites for the month of November.

1.  Gritty and Glow Magnetic Eye and  Face Palettes by Estee Edit ($58.00).   This limited edition dual palette features 6 buttery eye shadows and 6 highlighters and bronzers.  The grity palette (eye shadows) has beautiful bronze and golden shadows as well as jeweled toned colors.  The glow palette has soft and creamy highlighters that range from champagne to copper.  The gritty and glow magnetic eye and face palettes are a wonderful addition to everyone's cosmetic collection.

2.  Swerve Eyeliner by ColourPop ($5.00).  If you are looking for a creamy and rich black eye liner, look no further.  Swerve is an ulta pigmented black eyeliner that is used for a smooth application.  It is
a more cost-effective but similar quality eyeliner to the Marc Jacobs brand.  

3.  It's A 10 Potion 10 Instant Repair Leave-in Condition ($23.96).  I recently got a new hair cut and color so I wanted to switch up my hair routine.  I purchased this and #4 this past month and am absolutely loving them as a pair.  The leave-in conditioner gently moisturizes my hair throughout the night.  I mist it over my

shampooed hair and let my hair air dry.  It provides enough smoothing to my hair where I don't need to add any oil.

4.  It's A 10 Miracle Styling Potion ($19.96).  I love this product for my hair.  This will absolutely be a permanent part of my hair care routine.  I use this after I air dry my hair and right before I flat iron.  This product conditions hair while acting as a heat/thermal protector.  It keeps hair frizz free and smooth.  Definitely a
10!

5.  Kat von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Lolita ($21.00).  There is a reason why Lolita is a cult favorite.  I've been wearing this shade extensively for the month of November and have received a lot of compliments.  This is a great lipstick that goes with bold and neutral eye looks.  I will be looking into buying more shades as the product is very creamy and doesn't bleed on application.

Beauty Trove-Top 5 Favorites for September 2016

It’s hard to believe we are already in the pumpkin spiced filled month of October.  Ah, September, I hardly knew you.  But I did have a lot of fun discovering new makeup items and finally getting around to some of the products I had sitting in my drawers.  If you want to know what the Beauty Trove Blog has loved this September, continue to scroll down.

1.  MaryKay’s CC Cream:  I’ve been wearing this nonstop this month.  This is hands down one of my new favorite CC creams.  The coverage is very good and you only need about 2-3 pumps per application.  I use the Real Techniques sponges to apply the foundation for a flawless look that doesn’t look like I am pancaked in makeup.  It wears well throughout the day and after 8-9 hours when makeup typically breaks down, you will have a dewy finish on your skin. CC cream is sold for $20.

2.   Katty Kat Matte lipstick in Catour.  Okay, let’s get one thing straight the Katty Kat Matte lipstick line is definitely not matte.  However, there are some really lovely shades.  The one I have found myself reaching to all this month is Catour.  Catour is a lovely nude, pink-brown color.  The application is great.  It feels very silky and stays on with maybe one reapply during the day.  I’ve been mainly wearing a lot of nude and matte eye looks this month and the color pairs well.  I think the color would also work if you play up your eyes in really bright colors.  The lipstick is at a great price too.  Lipstick sells for $8.99.

1.  3. Tarte double duty shape tape contour concealer ($24.00).   I’m just going to say, where has this product been all of my life?  If you are like me and suffer from dark under eyes, you need this

concealer.  The concealer tube itself is packaged in a cute way; it comes with a chubby looking applicator.  The product is a dream!  You only need one little dot and it covers up any dark circles or blemishes.  It blends in nicely with the Mary Kay CC Cream and doesn’t sink into any wrinkles or creases around the eye.  It is a prestige brands so the product is going to fall on the higher end of the price scale.  But you only need a little bit of the product to cover even larger areas on the face so in the end you will need to use less than drug store concealers.

4.  Pur Cosmetics Love Your Selfie palette ($39.00).  Okay, I know I’m somewhat late getting to the party on this one.  Where do I begin?  This palette has everything: 8 pigmented eyeshadows for both natural and dramatic eye looks, 1 look at my glow highlighter, 1 goddess-like bronzer, 1 fabulous rose pink blush, 1 deluxe mascara, and 1 creamy, nude lip gloss.  I took this palette on a vacation and it was (in addition to my foundation) all the makeup I needed.  I received several compliments about my makeup using this palette.  This is a great investment for the price. I love the shade "capture", it is a great transition color. The only thing is that the eyeshadows are a little dusty so you just need to have light hand when you go to dip your brush into the pan.

  5. Assis LED Lighted Travel Mirror ($26.99)This is the best mirror that I have found for getting up close and grooming eyebrows and removing unwanted facial hair.  The 10X magnification combined with LED illumination makes sure you see each and every hair.

Beauty Trove Top 5 Favorite List- August 2016

Ah, the end of summer.  Where did it all go?  That's right, lots of summer cosmetic hauls!  Here's my list of August favorites;

1.  Pride + Prejudice + Zombies(TM) Eye and Cheek Palette- Holy molly this palette is awesome!  This Pride and Prejudice and Zombies movie inspired palette by BH Cosmetics has 12 gorgeous, highly pigmented eyeshadows, 1 highlighter, and two blushes.  The eyeshadows are super creamy and easy to blend.  The highligher is one of the best I have seen in a palette and the blushes work with every skin tone.  This was part of my BH haul this month and I bought two extras as back ups.  The lilac shade is extremely unique and can be worn in a smoky or sweet eyeshadow look.  I will be featuring a series of tutorials on this palette inspired by each of the Bennet sisters.  The palette is $12.50 and worth every penny!

2.  Exposed Highlighter- Tarte's Exposed Highlighter is amazing!  It is a great golden shade that is

highly pigmented.  It comes in a compact similar to Tarte's blushes.  The Exposed Highlighter is dynamite when paired with the nude Exposed Blush.  Buy the Tarte Exposed Highligher at Sephora to earn points, costs $28.00.

3.  Montagne Jeunesse Manuka Honey Peel Off- This mask is my jam!  Cleanse and apply this mask on your face and wait 15 minutes.  Peel off the mask to reveal the smoothest skin of your life.  The mask is a little messy to apply so tie your hair back.  It is so yummy smelling (please don't eat it).  Apply the mask in the morning right before you do your makeup routine.  Your foundation will be set to perfection.  This mask is sold at Ulta for $1.99.

4.  Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge Set-  For those of us who want an inexpensive version of the Beauty Blender, this is it.  The sponges have a flat end to apply foundation to cheek, chin, and forehead surfaces.  It also has a soft, pointed end to apply foundation underneath eyes and in corners of the face.  Set of two sponges cost $10.99 at Ulta.

5.  e.l.f. Cosmetics Lip Exfoliator- Where have you been all my life?  This is a truly amazing product, which I featured in my August review.  Leaves lips feeling baby soft so that lipstick and lipgloss goes on smooth.  Lip exfoliator costs $3.00 and is available in clear, mint, and cherry.
