Be a Makeup Junkie with these Lippie Deals!

Although the holidays are gone this year, the sales have not ended.  If you haven't gotten some gifts for yourself, now is the time.  Treat your lips to two Urban Decay lipstick palettes.

The first palette is the Junkie Vice Lipstick Palette ($25; orig. $35).  This limited-edition lipstick palette features 12 awe inspiring colors, ranging from neutrals to metallics to  berries to matte and to the adventurous.  The palette comes with a retractable lip brush and a good size mirror.
The second palette is the BlackMail Vice Lipstick Palette ($25; orig. $35).  Also, limited edition with 12 gorgeous, creamy lipstick shades.  The palette includes stunning neutrals, pinks, berries, reds, and oranges.  You can mix the lipsticks to create your own personalized lip color.  Or you can use the lipstick brush to contour your lips.  The options are endless but product availability is not!  Be sure to get either palette while supplies last.

Sparkle in 2017 with this Tarte Cosmetics Sale!

Tarte Cosmetics is ringing in the New Year with an up to 60% sale on select items.  My top pick is Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette ($28.00; orig. $42.00).  The Rainforest of the Sea palette has three lovely shades to bronze, highlight and contour.  The twinkle kit has sunlight (a champagne gold highlight), filtered light (matte sand, can also be used to set concealer), and moonlight (a rosy pearl; great for a lite contour).  Sale lasts until the final item is gone.  Also, did I mention that Tarte has free shipping on orders of $25 or more?

ColourPop is saying adieu to 2016 with a 20% off sale on their holiday items.  Products are already in low stock so make sure you get anything that wasn't checked off your Christmas wish list.  My top two picks for the sale are the Supershock eye shadow in Patchwork ($4.00; orig. $5.00) and the Ultra Matte Lip Gloss in Knotty ($4.80; orig. $6.00).  This eye shadow and lip gloss make for a perfect sultry pair (see below picture).  Sale lasts until the last holiday product is sold out.

Get the Look- Silver Bell Eyes Holiday Eye Shadow Tutorial

This holiday season let your eyes take center stage with this beautiful and sophisticated silver eye look.  This tutorial features products by ColourPop Cosmetics (free domestic shipping on orders over $30), Smashbox Cosmetics (orders at Ulta are 20% off with promo code on site for today only), Urban Decay, Clinique, MAC Cosmeticsand Mary Kay Cosmetics.  This eye look is really easy to do but super glamorous.  Check out below if you want to try out our Silver Bell Holiday Eye Look:

1) Prime your entire eye with Mary Kay Cosmetics Eye Primer ($12).  Take a small dot of Mary Kay Eye Primer on your ring finger and gently smooth on to brow bone and eyelid.  Let the primer absorb on the eyelid for about 10 seconds until putting on eye shadow.

2) Using your ring finger apply ColourPop Cosmetics Super Shock Eye Shadow in Glitterati ($5).  Gently swirl your ring finger into Gliterrati.  ColourPop's Super Shock Eye Shadows are very soft so you must do this carefully as not to dent the shadow and take out too much.  Glitterati is a stunning shade of metallic silver with flecks of gold.  We are using the ring finger instead of an eye
shadow brush to create an intense eye color look.  Tap the eye color on your eyelid, into the crease, and slightly above the crease.  If you need it, go back into Glitterati and pick up more color.

3) Line lower eyelash in Glitterati.  Take a liner brush and dip into Glitterati and slowly apply along the lower eyelash.

4)  Highlight brow bone in Foxy Eye Shadow ($19) by Urban Decay.  Foxy is a great neutral shade to highlight your brow bone for a number of eye cosmetic looks.  Use a flat shader brush to apply an even layer of Foxy on the brow bone.

5) Define eyelash lines using SmashBox's Always Sharp WaterProof Kohl Eyeliner in Raven ($21).  This is one of my favorite eyeliners.  As the name implies, this liner is always sharp and always on the mark.  Great for lining your waterline.  Use Raven to line upper and lower eyelash lines.  You won't be disappointed.

6)  Apply 2 coats of mascara to upper and bottom eyelashes.  Amp up the volume with Mary Kay's Lash Intensity mascara ($18; apply to upper eylashes only).  Allow upper eyelashes to dry in between coating 10 seconds and before applying mascara to the bottom lashes.  Use Clinique's bottom lash ($11.50) to coat well, your bottom lashes.

7) Finish the look with a berry lipstick.  Take MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in Plumful ($17) and apply on lips for a festive holiday look.  Gorgeous!

There you have it, our Silver Bell Eye Look!  Comment below to let us know if you try and how you like the tutorial!

Medusa's Makeup Unboxing-November 2016

Medusa's Makeup, an independent and cruelty-free cosmetics company, has a monthly subscription in which you can try out specially curated makeup items for $15.95 a month.  This goody box is definitely a hit this month!  If you didn't get the subscription but would still like November's box, check out this page to purchase.  Keep reading to find out what came in November:

1.  Lip Gloss in Loud Mouth ($9.00).  This is a really gorgeous shade of coral-orange.  It pairs
nicely with a neutral look or navy blue eye shadow.  The lip gloss applies easy and is relatively long lasting although you will have to reapply if you drink or eat anything.  Thumbs up from me!

2.  Lip and Cheek Stain in Moody ($8.00).  Medusa's Makeup lip and cheek stain is very soft and smells faintly of cherry.  Although the shade name would imply that it would be a dark color, it actually is a sheer dark red.  I like it more as a lip stain and balm to keep my lips moisturized rather than a cheek blush.

3.  Eye Dust in Green Velvet ($7.00).  This is an awesome shade of dark green with hints of gold glitter.  I can imagine wearing this during the holidays and into the end of winter.  The eye dust is the same quality as Bare Minerals and is highly pigmented.

4. Makeup Setting Spray ($8.00).  Nice!  I've been looking for a travel makeup setting spray.  I think this fits the ticket.  The setting spray is made up of all natural waxes and is sure to keep your makeup from melting.  I will be trying this one out soon and let you know how it works.

The total amount this box is worth is $32.  Not as much as last month's, but I like the products in the November box better.  I think I will get more use out of these cosmetics every day.  Can't wait for next month's unboxing!

Get the Look- Sunny Pop Eye Shadow Tutorial

Urban Decay is having a fabulous sale on their limited edition Full Spectrum Palette ($39; reg. $55), featuring 21 mind blowing rainbow colors.  If you are a fan of color, then this palette is right up your ally.  This would also make a great Christmas present from Santa.  To celebrate the sale, we have designed a bright Sunny Pop eye shadow look.  Read below for the tutorial:

1.  Prime eyelids.  Using your ring finger, apply Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden ($20).

2.  Apply Mean as transition shade.  Take your blending brush and dip into Mean from the Full Spectrum palette.  Using a windshield wiper motion blend Mean into the crease of your eyelid.

3.  Blend Hatter into the crease.  Use a clean blending brush and apply Hatter to the outer end of your crease.

4.  Pack on Calavera to lid.  Take a small smudger brush and pack in Calavera color all over the eyelid.

5.  Blend colors together.  Create a seamless transition by blending colors together slowly with a clean blending brush.

6.  Define outer corner.  Take a small eyeliner brush and define the outer v of the eyelid with Midnight Blaze.  Blend color into the outer v with a clean blending brush.

8.  Highlight brow bone and inner corner of eye.  Use Urban Decay's Eyeshadow in Foxy to smooth out brow bone.  Using your pinky, gently tap on ColourPop's Highligter in Fanny Pack ($8.00).

7.  Define the eye.  Using ColourPop's Gel Eyeliner in Swerve ($5.00), line upper and lower lash lines.

8.  Amp up the drama with mascara.  Apply two coats of mascara both bottom and lower lashes with  Mary Kay's Lash Intensity ($18) and Clinique's Bottom Lash ($11.50).

Let us know how you like the tutorial and comment below!

Beauty Trove's Top 5 November Favorites

Better late than never!  Here are my top 5 favorites for the month of November.

1.  Gritty and Glow Magnetic Eye and  Face Palettes by Estee Edit ($58.00).   This limited edition dual palette features 6 buttery eye shadows and 6 highlighters and bronzers.  The grity palette (eye shadows) has beautiful bronze and golden shadows as well as jeweled toned colors.  The glow palette has soft and creamy highlighters that range from champagne to copper.  The gritty and glow magnetic eye and face palettes are a wonderful addition to everyone's cosmetic collection.

2.  Swerve Eyeliner by ColourPop ($5.00).  If you are looking for a creamy and rich black eye liner, look no further.  Swerve is an ulta pigmented black eyeliner that is used for a smooth application.  It is
a more cost-effective but similar quality eyeliner to the Marc Jacobs brand.

3.  It's A 10 Potion 10 Instant Repair Leave-in Condition ($23.96).  I recently got a new hair cut and color so I wanted to switch up my hair routine.  I purchased this and #4 this past month and am absolutely loving them as a pair.  The leave-in conditioner gently moisturizes my hair throughout the night.  I mist it over my
shampooed hair and let my hair air dry.  It provides enough smoothing to my hair where I don't need to add any oil.

4.  It's A 10 Miracle Styling Potion ($19.96).  I love this product for my hair.  This will absolutely be a permanent part of my hair care routine.  I use this after I air dry my hair and right before I flat iron.  This product conditions hair while acting as a heat/thermal protector.  It keeps hair frizz free and smooth.  Definitely a
10!

5.  Kat von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Lolita ($21.00).  There is a reason why Lolita is a cult favorite.  I've been wearing this shade extensively for the month of November and have received a lot of compliments.  This is a great lipstick that goes with bold and neutral eye looks.  I will be looking into buying more shades as the product is very creamy and doesn't bleed on application.

Have you tried any of these products?  Let us know.  Also, what are your November favorites?

Awesome Sheet Mask Haul

A few weeks ago Ulta had a cyber deal on Biobelle sheet masks ($4.99), a BOGO event.  Last October I tried Biobelle's #Decadence sheet mask, a chocolate and acai berry infused mask that moisturizes your face.  I absolutely loved that mask and took Coffee Break with Dani's advice and used it before applying my makeup.  The mask smelled wonderfully of chocolate and it was a relaxing 15 minutes.  Biobelle Masks are made out of tencel, a biodegradable fiber, and fits nicely on the face.  It feels like a second skin.  Once the 15 minutes are up, I rinsed my face and applied my primer and cosmetics.  My foundation looked spot on and my eye makeup lasted all day long!

For the BOGO sale, I decided to purchase masks that would amount to $35 so I could receive free shipping.  I placed 8 #Decadence sheet masks in my cart as well as 2 #HappyHour masks (tightening) and 6 #BeautySecret masks (firming).  I use one mask each week.  I find that you can actually get two uses from each masks.  I use an additional sheet mask from Amazon ($2.15 with free shipping) to absorb the remainder of the serum to get a second use out of the Biobelle products.  With holiday sales likely to continue and possibly ramp up closer to the end of the month, I am betting there will be another Biobelle BOGO sale for you to try out some sheet masks.

Beauty Trove- Top 5 Favorites for October 2016

We are well past October but I wanted to share my favorite cosmetics and beauty items for the past month.  A lot of these items will most likely be on sale within the next couple of days for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  These all make great gifts for family and friends, you may even want to try out a few yourself!

1.  Shaanxo- 18 Color Eyeshadow and Lipstick Palette ($14.50; $22.00).  This is a super affordable palette and the price does fluctuate.  It is typically $14.50, but it has gone down to $12.50.
The Shaanxo kit is a double sided palette that features 8 highly pigmented and warm toned eyeshadows on one side and the reverse side has 8 creamy lipsticks.  Both sides have a deluxe mirror, which I really like.  The colors are perfect for fall and winter.  I especially like the dual-chrome gray-blue color eyeshadow.  If you are a fan of Shaanxo, you can watch her youtube channel for a number of tutorials using this palette.  I am planning on keeping one of the Shaanxo palettes I own at work, in case I don't have time in the morning to apply my makeup.  This palette is really worth the price and will make an excellent gift for your family, friends, co-workers, or yourself.

2.  Mary Kay Translucent Loose Powder ($16.00).  After I apply my foundation, I will set it with a loose translucent powder.  This is a makeup tip so that your foundation will stay on for longer and not melt (you can also apply a setting spray after as well).  I used to use the BareMinerals Mineral Veil Powder but at $22.00 it was getting to be expensive.  I like the MaryKay powder as it is much finer than BareMinerals and a lot of other prestige brands.  Also, you really don't need that much to set your foundation.  Just dip your foundation brush in once, swirl, and tap off the excess and you are ready to apply it to your face.  If you are in the market for a new setting powder, I encourage you to try out the powder by Mary Kay.  Plus there is the added benefit of returning the item at full price if you are not happy with the results.

3.  Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer ($14.95).  I'm totally addicted to this bronzer!  I've been using this every day along with the translucent loose powder.  I use the bronzer to contour my cheeks, chin and nose.  It is an extra creamy bronzer that comes with a mirror underneath the product and a brush for application.  It smells absolutely lovely--coconut!  It comes in two shades light bronzer (forfair to medium complexions) and bronzer (for deep complexions).  This is a great option to apply a little color during the winter months.  This product has also won the Women's Health Beauty Award.

4.  Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara ($11.50).  I honestly don't know why I didn't try this mascara
out sooner.  I have long lower eyelashes and I could never get them all coated with my other mascaras.  The clinique bottom lash mascara like its name implies it meant only for your bottom lashes.  The mascara has a tiny wand that will neatly coat all of your bottom lashes with zero mess.

5.  Formula 10.0.6 So Totally Clean Micellar Cleansing Water. ($5.99).  My eye makeup remover does a great job at taking off my eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara.  However, I've noticed that my cleanser still leaves a little bit of my foundation behind.  So I have added the So Totally Clean Micellar Cleansing Water (sensitive forumla) to my routine.  I still keep my cleanser in there but according to Formula 10.0.6, you really don't need it.  When I use my eye makeup remover, cleanser and micellar cleansing water, I've noticed that I have removed all my makeup, there isn't a stitch left of it on my face.  The smell of the So Totally Clean Micellar Cleansing Water reminds me a lot of witch hazel.  But other than that, I've been really happy with this product and it is now part of my permanent skin routine.

Let me know if you have tried any of these products and how well you liked them.  Also, what are your October favorites in beauty?

Start your holiday shopping early this weekend.  Ulta has over 100+ items in its CyberFundays Sale.  CyberFunday features 20-50% off of prestige and other cosmetics.  A great option for white elephant gifts.  CyberFunday is for 11/18/-11/19/2016  only.  These are my favorites:

1.  Urban Decay Cosmetics' Electric Pressed Pigments Palette ($24.00; $49.00).  This is a fun and great way to celebrate the wild child within all of us.  This super pigmented palette features bold and electric colors in Revolt (metallic silver shimmer), Gonzo (bright turquoise), Slowburn (bright-red orange), Savage (bright hot pink), Fringe (bright metallic teal), Chaos (bright cobalt blue), Jilted (bright fuchsia with blue shift), Urban (bright metallic purple), Freak (bright green with gold shift), and Thrash (bright lime green).  This palette also has a dual ended soft eye brush.  You will need to use a good eye makeup remover, like Mary Kay's Oil-free Eye makeup Remover ($15.00), to take off the eyeshadow.

2.  Lipstick Queen's Seven Deadly Sins Lip Gloss ($12.00; $24.00).  Pick your choice of this creamy, high impact gloss in Lust (a dark red), Anger (fire-coral red), Decadence (fuchsia), Vanity
(dark wine), Avarice (nude peach), Indolence (nude pink), and Envy (purple).

3.  Bare Minerals Thank You, You're So Sweet 8 PC Set ($18.00; $36.00).  A super cure Eye Palette with 8 eyeshadows named after decadent sweets.  This is a great white elephant gift that is sure to please whoever is lucky enough to select it.

Try Again or Toss: e.l.f. Cosmetics Baked Highlighter

I love a beauty bargain!  Especially when the bargain comes from a company, like e.l.f. Cosmetics, that produces inexpensive products without compromising product quality.  I love the e.l.f. Cosmetics eyeliners and blushes.  So when I found out that e.l.f. Cosmetics has baked highlighters, I jumped right on board.  These highlighters sell out pretty fast so they must be really good, right?

My first impression of the highlighter I bought, which was Blush Gems ($3.00) was well...meh.  The payoff wasn't fantastic and to be honest looked like I did not have any highlighter on.  I found it difficult to get enough product on my cosmetic brush and it required too much effort to continuously swirl the brush in the product, then apply onto the high points of my cheeks, and repeat the same process over the areas I thought I just covered.

I hate discarding cosmetics, even if it just cost me $3.00.  So I gave it the old college try and worked at the highlighter again.  Check out this easy step out to decide if the e.l.f. baked highlighter is worth another try or a toss:

1.  Use your finger rather than a brush.  I know it sounds strange.  But your fingers have a lot of ridges, grooves, and oil that pick up pigment better than a brush can.

2.  Wet your finger and then press into the highlighter.  This is a baked highlighter, which means it can be applied on wet and wet actually increases the intensity.  Once you have picked up enough product with your wet finger apply to the high-points on your face.

So Toss or Try Again?  My verdict: try again.  It actually works out much better using a damp finger application.  Let me know what your verdict is!

Medusa's Makeup October 2016 Unboxing

This is my review on the Medusa's Makeup October 2016 subscription.  I started my subscription this month after running across a Facebook Ad that listed a subscription service for all vegan, cruelty-free cosmetics.  Medusa's Makeup monthly box subscription costs $15.95 per month and ships 3 days after your credit card has been charged.  Each box comes with 3-5 products that are valued at $40.  I also viewed some of the reviews on youtube and was really interested after seeing what products came in the August and September unboxing this year.

I received my October subscription at the time Medusa's said I would.  It came in a metallic purple bubble wrap package and a small postcard describing the product theme.  The postcard featured some really cool artwork.

The first item I took out was a pair of false eyelashes and eyelash glue.  The eyelashes were secured in a heart shape container.  The cost of this item is $8.00.

The second and third items I pulled out were packaged together.  They were Red Square lipstick ($12.00) and eye glitter in abracadabra (black; $7.00).  The Red Square lipstick is a cherry red that I don't typically wear.  However, the lipstick is creamy and glides on easy.  The eye glitter is fairly black and doesn't really shine until you place it directly under a light.

The last item The Fix glitter adhesive ($8.00).  The Fix is a bit waxy (I think it is made of bees wax) but it will hold the glitter in place.

The product value came to $35, $5 missing from the promised $40.  My overall take on this October unboxing is....meh.  I'm not sure if it is because I wouldn't have selected these products for myself or that my expectations were so high after watching the August and September unboxing youtube videos.  I will try out the products and see if I like them, even though they are things I don't typically use.  I will also give the subscription 2 more months before I determine if I should cancel it or not.  Here's hoping that the next unboxing will have the Sugar Daddy lipstick!
